Nakshatras
Nakshatras are divisions of the zodiac used in Jyotish. The articles below explain two specific divisions, their conventional symbols and how to use them without turning them into fixed personality tests.

- Uttara Phalguni spans late Leo and early Virgo. Start here for the four padas and the later convention associating the division with Aryaman.
- Dhanishta (Dhanista) spans late Capricorn and early Aquarius. Start here for its four padas, Vasus association and the two common English spellings.
These two nakshatras are far apart in the 27-part sequence and answer distinct location questions. Their symbol or deity alone does not identify a career, health state, wealth level or character. We keep the original Dhanista URL even though the article uses “Dhanishta” in prose.
How to read a nakshatra article
First verify the chart’s sidereal calculation and which planet or point occupies the degree; the Moon, Sun and ascendant are different chart questions. A boundary reading also depends on birth-time accuracy and ayanamsha. Then consider sign, house, planetary rulership and the wider chart. Padas specify four equal quarters; they are coordinates, not occupational categories.
