Why the sixth has difficult vocabulary
The sixth is sometimes called a dusthana, a difficult house in certain Jyotish classifications. The Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra uses historical language about disease and opponents in its house discussion. A strong sixth lord can make sixth-house matters prominent; it does not by itself show whether the native overcomes them. Compare the strength of Lagna and its lord with the sixth-house structure, then inspect benefic support and the planets activating the conflict.
The third, sixth, tenth and eleventh are also often discussed as upachaya houses, where effort matters in some conventional readings. Saturn’s capacity for repeated effort can be useful here when the native has enough Lagna and dispositor support to sustain it. Weak receiving lords can turn prolonged duties into greater expenditure or depleted reserves; supported ones help contain the burden.
